Cynthia Escamilla

Cynthia Escamilla is a paralegal for Lex Tecnica and the IEPDefender.org initiative. Outside that paralegal role, she serves as a special education advocate in Las Vegas and plays a crucial role in supporting students with special needs and their families. With extensive knowledge of state and federal special education laws, she helps parents navigate the complex educational system to ensure their children receive appropriate services and accommodations.

Cynthia has worked with local organizations in supporting families of children with special needs for the last 13 years as an independent advocate, assistance is tailored to each family she has worked with.

As a paralegal, and special education advocate, Cynthia performs a wide range of duties, including:
● Interpreting evaluation results and explaining them to parents.
● Assisting in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
● Attending meetings with school officials to advocate for students' righ
● Helping parents understand available services and legal protections.
● Researching and recommending appropriate educational strategies and accommodations.
● Spanish translation services.

Cynthia believes that the title of “parent” is the most important title at the IEP Meeting. Her ultimate goal is to empower families and ensure that every child with special needs receives a free and appropriate education tailored to their unique requirements.
