Attorney Authored. AI Accelerated.™
Lex Tecnica is built around a simple idea: treat people like people to create light.
We know when people are treated like objects, dollars, or numbers, that lie creates darkness. But when we treat people like people, and honor them as co-creators, and harmonize with them, that truth creates light. We believe great lawyers should have something they believe in, somewhere they belong, and room to become something more. We believe clients deserve the same thing: lawyers who understand not only the law, but the people, businesses, families, dreams, and challenges behind the legal problem.
Technology helps us work faster. AI helps us reach farther. Neither replaces the distinctly human part of practicing law.
Believe. Belong. Become.
Lex Tecnica is a modern, technology-enhanced law firm built around a surprisingly traditional idea: people matter.
In the Age of AI, where authenticity is the currency of connection, we created an ecosystem designed to attract talented, entrepreneurial attorneys who share common governing virtues while bringing different experiences, personalities, strengths, and areas of expertise to the table.
Technology extends our reach. AI enhances our efficiency. But technology isn’t the point. Better human relationships are.
Our goal is to give attorneys more time to do what attorneys should actually do: listen, counsel, exercise judgment, solve problems, build relationships, and advocate for people.
We don’t believe the traditional law-firm pyramid is particularly good for lawyers or clients.
Traditional firms often reward leverage: more associates, more hours, and more layers between the client and the experienced attorney the client thought they hired. Big Law incentivizes attorneys to bill their clients, because the Big Law Pyramid model squeezes the attorneys.
We try to flatten and fatten the pyramid.
Our attorneys maintain meaningful independence while sharing the technology, people, systems, insurance, marketing, billing, compliance, and administrative infrastructure of a larger firm.
For clients, that means something important: the lawyer you hire remains your lawyer. And when your problem requires additional experience, that lawyer has a broader team behind them.
It means the lawyer remains responsible for the work.
We embrace AI and other technology where they can make legal work faster, better, more organized, and more efficient. But we don’t believe technology should make legal services less human.
Quite the opposite.
We want AI handling more of the mechanical work so our lawyers can spend more time doing the things that require lawyers: strategy, judgment, empathy, creativity, counseling, negotiation, and advocacy.
AI can accelerate great lawyering. It doesn’t replace it.
Our lawyers come from different backgrounds, beliefs, experiences, and walks of life. We don’t expect everyone to think alike. We do expect our people to share certain principles about how we treat other people.
Excellence. Light. Compassion. Candor. Collaboration. Responsibility. Unity. Gratitude. Generosity
Honesty. Discernment. Focus. Peacemaking
These governing virtues and principles affect how we treat clients, courts, opposing counsel, our communities, and one another.
It’s shorthand for the culture we’re trying to build.
BELIEVE. Great work begins with purpose. We want people who believe in something larger than themselves, a guiding star to their purpose, drive, and being. Faith fuels purpose.
BELONG. People perform better when they’re seen, respected, supported, and allowed to be themselves. Our attorneys are authentic humans who care for each other and the other side.
BECOME. A career shouldn’t simply make you busier or richer. It should help you become the best version of your self.
We developed those principles around our people, but they naturally extend to our clients. The best attorney-client relationships are built around trust, shared purpose, and helping clients build, protect, or become something that matters.
Lex Tecnica currently has attorneys licensed across a growing number of jurisdictions, including Nevada, California, Arizona, Utah, New York, North Carolina, New Hampshire, and Hawaii.
Because licensure and admission requirements vary by matter, attorney availability depends on the jurisdiction and type of representation.
Lex Tecnica began primarily as a tech enhanced Fractional General Counsel firm and has grown into a multidisciplinary law firm. Our attorneys provide services across a growing number of practice areas, including:
Business & Corporate Law; Fractional General Counsel; Mergers & Acquisitions; Business Transactions; Business & Civil Litigation; Intellectual Property; Immigration; Employment Law; Real Estate; Wealth Management, Wills & Trusts; Probate & Asset Protection; Children’s Rights, IEP & Special Education Advocacy; Adoption; Cyber & Technology Law; and Gun Trusts.
Some of these practices have developed their own identities, including IEP Defenders, Carma Legal, REB Law, and ImmigrationHelpUSA.com, while remaining connected to the broader Lex Tecnica ecosystem.
Both.
Lex Tecnica began largely as a Fractional General Counsel firm serving businesses and entrepreneurs. As exceptional lawyers joined us, our capabilities expanded with them. Today we help businesses build and protect what they’re creating, and we help individuals and families protect what matters most to them.
That can mean negotiating a multimillion-dollar transaction in one practice and helping a parent fight for a child’s education in another.
Different problems. Same philosophy:
Treat people like people.
We think personality fit matters as much as résumé fit. Tell us what you’re facing and what matters to you. We consider the nature of the matter, jurisdiction, experience required, and the individual strengths of our attorneys to help connect you with the right lawyer or team.
You aren’t hiring a logo. You’re hiring a person.
Whenever possible, yes. In fact, we encourage it. One frustration with the traditional Big Law model is the familiar experience where a senior lawyer sells the engagement and much of the actual work then moves downstream.
We want clients to know the lawyer responsible for their relationship.
And when you hire one Lex Tecnica attorney, that attorney can draw upon the experience of the broader firm when your needs cross practice areas.
Absolutely.
No attorney is great at everything, and pretending otherwise doesn’t serve clients.
Your primary attorney can bring in colleagues with complementary experience when appropriate.
You get a relationship with your lawyer without being limited to the knowledge of one lawyer.
Yes, in many circumstances.
Our distributed structure was built for a world where clients, employees, customers, assets, and legal problems don’t stop at state lines.
We have attorneys admitted in multiple jurisdictions and can assemble teams around a client’s needs, subject to applicable licensing and professional-responsibility requirements.
Call us anyway. Sometimes one of our attorneys can assist. Sometimes we can associate with appropriate local counsel. And sometimes the best answer is to introduce you to someone else.
We’re interested in solving your problem, not keeping work we shouldn’t be doing.
Tell us what you need.
Our team will gather some basic information, determine whether we can help, and identify the attorney or practice group best suited for the matter.
If we’re the right fit, we’ll explain the proposed engagement and fees before representation begins.
Yes. The type and cost of an initial consultation varies by practice area.
In many practices, the first step is simply telling us what’s happening so we can determine whether we’re the right fit. Certain practice groups may offer free initial consultations or other intake arrangements.
We’d rather understand the problem before asking you to hire us.
There isn’t one Lex Tecnica price because there isn’t one kind of Lex Tecnica matter.
Legal fees vary depending upon the attorney, practice area, jurisdiction, complexity, and type of engagement.
We believe clients should understand how they’re paying us and why. Your fee arrangement will be discussed before representation begins.
Yes.
Depending upon the engagement, hourly, flat-fee, fractional, subscription-like, contingency, hybrid, or other alternative arrangements may be available where appropriate and permitted.
The objective isn’t simply to sell hours.
It’s to create value.
Directly.
Your engagement team will tell you the best way to communicate with them and who else is available when needed.
Our technology helps us communicate and collaborate efficiently, but we don’t want technology to become a wall between clients and their lawyers.
Yes. Certain Lex Tecnica attorneys practice in federal courts, before federal agencies, and in areas governed substantially by federal law.
The ability to handle a particular federal matter depends upon the attorney, jurisdiction, and nature of the engagement.

Fractional General Counsel gives a business something fundamentally different from having a lawyer it calls only when something goes wrong.
You have a lawyer on your team.
Your Fractional General Counsel learns your company, leadership, culture, objectives, risk tolerance, opportunities, and history.
Instead of repeatedly explaining your business to a new outside lawyer, you develop an ongoing relationship with counsel who understands where you’ve been and where you’re trying to go.
That’s where Lex Tecnica began, and it remains central to who we are.
Traditional outside counsel is often hired to solve a legal problem.
Great General Counsel helps leadership run the business.
That means identifying problems before they become lawsuits, participating in strategic decisions, negotiating important relationships, understanding internal personalities and priorities, and recognizing that the technically safest legal answer isn’t always the best business answer.
Fractional General Counsel is designed to become part of your team rather than simply advising it from the outside.
You can receive many of the advantages of experienced in-house legal leadership without necessarily adding another full-time executive salary, benefits package, legal department, and associated overhead.
And there’s another advantage:
Your Fractional General Counsel isn’t alone.
Behind your lawyer is a multidisciplinary firm that can help when a matter requires litigation, employment, intellectual property, real estate, M&A, cybersecurity, or another specialized skill.
Usually companies that have reached the point where saying “we should probably ask a lawyer” has become a regular occurrence.
That might be a startup raising capital, a growing family business, a technology company negotiating increasingly sophisticated contracts, or an established organization whose legal needs have outgrown an occasional outside-counsel relationship.
Depending upon the engagement, Fractional General Counsel may assist with contracts, corporate governance, employment issues, transactions, risk management, disputes, policies, compliance, negotiations, strategic planning, outside-counsel management, and other recurring legal needs.
Just as importantly, your General Counsel can help identify when a particular issue should be handled by a specialist.
Absolutely.
A good General Counsel doesn’t need to do everything personally.
Part of the job is knowing who should do what.
We can coordinate with your existing litigation counsel, employment lawyers, patent counsel, tax professionals, accountants, insurance professionals, consultants, and other advisers.
When appropriate, your Lex Tecnica attorney can help manage those relationships so your leadership team doesn’t have to act as the traffic controller.
Yes, in many circumstances.
Lex Tecnica’s distributed model and attorneys licensed in multiple jurisdictions can be particularly valuable to businesses whose operations and legal needs cross state lines.
The particular attorneys involved depend upon the jurisdictions and issues presented.
As involved as makes sense for your company and the engagement.
For some clients, that means recurring contracts and employment questions. For others, the attorney participates in leadership meetings, helps develop strategy, manages outside counsel, negotiates major transactions, advises executives or the board, or effectively functions as the company’s General Counsel.
The goal isn’t to stand outside your company dispensing legal opinions.
We want to understand the business well enough to help you build it.
No.
In many ways, growing and middle-market companies benefit the most.
Large companies can afford entire legal departments. Smaller and middle-market companies can face equally sophisticated legal problems without having enough legal work to justify one.
Fractional General Counsel helps fill that gap.
Pricing depends upon the scope of the engagement, anticipated legal needs, attorneys involved, and the structure that makes sense for the business.
We can explore arrangements designed to provide greater predictability and alignment than simply receiving an unexpected legal bill whenever something happens.
When legal issues are becoming part of running the business rather than isolated events.
A useful question is:
Would better legal judgment earlier in our decisions save us money, reduce risk, or help us move faster?
If the answer is regularly yes, it may be time.
Tell us about your business.
We want to understand where you are, where you’re going, what keeps showing up on your legal radar, and what you want from a legal partner.
From there, we can determine whether a Fractional General Counsel relationship makes sense and identify the lawyer or team that best fits your business.
Imagine building your own practice without having to build your own law firm.
You develop relationships. You practice law. You build your reputation, expertise, and book of business.
We build and maintain much of the machinery behind you: technology, billing, staffing, marketing, insurance, compliance, systems, vendors, administrative support, and a growing network of other attorneys.
We call it flattening and fattening the pyramid.
Instead of building a business model around layers of people underneath you, we want more of the value created by attorneys to stay with the attorneys creating it.
Because too many extraordinary lawyers are unhappy.
The traditional model can ask talented people to trade enormous portions of their lives for billable-hour targets, internal politics, and the possibility that someday they’ll be invited farther up the pyramid.
We thought there should be another option.
Treat lawyers like people.
Give them autonomy. Give them infrastructure. Let them keep more of what they create. Surround them with interesting people. Encourage them to serve. Help them build something.
Give them a place to Believe. Belong. Become.
There’s no single Lex Tecnica personality.
That’s intentional.
We like entrepreneurs, builders, specialists, rainmakers, thinkers, litigators, counselors, parents, technologists, former government lawyers, former Big Law attorneys, former in-house lawyers, and people whose careers don’t fit neatly into a box.
What matters more is whether you are excellent at what you do, treat people well, take responsibility for your work, and want to build something.
Different strengths. Shared principles.
What does “Believe. Belong. Become.” mean for attorneys?
BELIEVE. Have a reason for practicing law beyond recording another tenth of an hour.
BELONG. Be part of a community without surrendering your individuality.
BECOME. Build the practice, expertise, relationships, financial independence, and life you actually want.
We don’t think success should require choosing between being an excellent lawyer and being a whole human being.
Yes.
Lex Tecnica is particularly well suited to entrepreneurial attorneys who have already developed trusted client relationships and want a better platform from which to serve those clients and grow.
Not necessarily.
Some attorneys arrive with substantial practices. Others bring valuable expertise that complements existing Lex Tecnica attorneys, clients, and practice groups.
The right structure depends upon experience, practice area, existing business, and the role you’re seeking.
We’re interested in what you can build, not merely what you already have.
Potentially.
Lex Tecnica is building an ecosystem in which certain focused practices can develop distinct identities while benefiting from the infrastructure, attorneys, resources, and capabilities of the broader firm.
IEP Defenders, Carma Legal, REB Law, and ImmigrationHelpUSA.com illustrate aspects of that approach. Each allows us to speak more directly to the people who need a particular kind of help while giving those clients access to the people and resources of the larger Lex Tecnica firm.
Any structure must comply with applicable ethical, advertising, licensing, and firm requirements.
A lot.
We recruit accomplished professionals because we trust accomplished professionals to exercise judgment.
Autonomy does not mean isolation.
Lex Tecnica provides shared standards, systems, infrastructure, resources, and a community of lawyers who can collaborate when useful.
Independence when you want it. A team when you need it.
Shared infrastructure may include technology, AI tools, marketing, staffing, compliance, billing systems, malpractice coverage, HR, case-management systems, vendor management, administrative support, and brand visibility.
The idea is simple:
You should spend more of your time practicing law, building relationships, and growing your practice—and less of it running the machinery of a law firm.
Aggressively, but responsibly.
We believe lawyers who learn to use AI effectively will be able to deliver better work, faster, while spending more of their own time on judgment, strategy, relationships, and advocacy.
But the attorney remains responsible.
That’s what we mean by:
Attorney Authored. AI Accelerated.™
Our model is designed to let attorneys retain a substantially greater portion of the economic value they create than is typical in a traditional leveraged law firm.
Specific compensation and revenue-sharing arrangements depend upon the attorney’s role, origination, matter responsibility, team structure, and applicable agreement.
But the philosophy is simple:
Flatten the pyramid. Fatten the people doing the work.
Yes.
We don’t just want attorneys to bring books of business. We want entrepreneurial lawyers to build practices.
Depending upon the opportunity, that can include associates, paralegals, specialists, administrative support, marketing resources, and attorneys from other Lex Tecnica practices.
Please do.
That’s one of the principal reasons the ecosystem exists.
A corporate lawyer’s client eventually gets sued. A litigator discovers an employment problem. A real-estate client needs estate planning. A technology company needs privacy or cybersecurity advice. A family may need help in several different areas over time.
Our objective is to make those connections naturally while keeping the client’s relationship and needs at the center.
We want clients to remain within a trusted ecosystem whenever another Lex Tecnica lawyer is the right person to help them.
Internal referrals create opportunities for attorneys while giving clients access to additional legal capabilities without starting over with an unfamiliar firm.
The objective is not simply cross-selling.
It’s taking care of people.
Potentially.
A distributed firm creates opportunities to work with lawyers and clients across jurisdictions and to develop practices that aren’t constrained by the geography of a traditional office.
Expansion always remains subject to licensing, admission, supervision, and professional-responsibility requirements.
Yes, when the right opportunity and fit exist.
We’re interested in talented attorneys at different stages of their careers.
What matters is whether there is a strong fit between the lawyer, the practice opportunity, and our culture.
Build something worth belonging to.
Develop an excellent practice. Serve clients exceptionally well. Mentor people. Collaborate. Create opportunities. Protect the firm’s reputation. Live our governing principles.
And leave the people and institutions you encounter better than you found them.
Talk to us.
We understand that exploring a move can be sensitive, and conversations with prospective attorneys can be handled confidentially.
You don’t need a polished business plan before calling.
Tell us what you’ve built, what you’re good at, what frustrates you about your current model, and what you’d build if you had the freedom and infrastructure to do it.
If you have other questions not covered here, feel free to reach out. We’re always ready to assist you and provide the clarity you need.

Lex represents law.
Tecnica reflects technology, craft, technique, and innovation.
Together, they reflect our belief that the future of law isn’t lawyer versus technology.
It’s exceptional human lawyers amplified by exceptional technology.
Attorney Authored. AI Accelerated.™
Lex Tecnica was founded in 2022 around a question:
Could we build a law firm that works better for both clients and lawyers?
Our original focus was Fractional General Counsel: bringing experienced legal leadership inside growing businesses without requiring them to build a traditional legal department.
But the idea grew.
If we could create infrastructure that freed great lawyers to practice differently, why limit it to General Counsel?
That became the larger Lex Tecnica experiment: build an ecosystem where extraordinary people can do extraordinary legal work without recreating all the things they disliked about traditional law firms.
We prefer distributed.
“Virtual” can sound like nobody is really there.
We’re very real.
Our attorneys work across jurisdictions, collaborate through technology, meet clients where they are, and share common infrastructure. We also have physical spaces and relationships in the communities we serve.
We use technology to eliminate unnecessary geography, not human connection.
We’re a law firm that knows how to use AI, and we think that’s an important distinction.
Our work is created, reviewed, judged, and ultimately owned by attorneys.
AI and technology can help our attorneys research, organize, analyze, draft, communicate, and work more efficiently. But a client isn’t hiring an algorithm.
They’re hiring a lawyer.
Attorney Authored. AI Accelerated.™
Something bigger than a collection of lawyers sharing overhead.
We’re trying to build a community of talented people who believe in something, belong somewhere, and are continually becoming better—better lawyers, counselors, entrepreneurs, leaders, neighbors, and human beings.
That community is also becoming an ecosystem of focused practices and brands—including IEPDefenders.com, CarmaLegal.com, REBLaw.com, and ImmigrationHelpUSA.com—each designed around the people it serves, but connected by common infrastructure, common virtues, and a common belief that legal services should remain distinctly human.
We want to prove that a law firm can be technologically sophisticated without becoming impersonal.
That it can be financially successful without treating people as units of production.
That lawyers can be competitive without being cruel.
That ambition and service can coexist – as a form of harmonic resonance – where we maximize Intelligence Quotient, Emotional Quotient, and Relational Intelligence.
And that technology—including AI—can actually make the practice of law more human, by giving lawyers more time for the things only humans can do.
WE ARE LEX TECNICA.
TOGETHER WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD.
